The place we shot, 'Johnny Ma studios', is this cool warehouse next to a funeral parlour in Perth, there's this yellow parrot that lives there and mills around all the action, you may see him in the clip, if not you'll see him in the behind the scene shots for sure. Gulnare Funk is a surreal and nihilistic pop culture response to modern absurdity, where the economy of algorithm fueled entertainment thrives on nostalgic escapism and fiscal idolatry, distracting us from impending existential threats and our complicity in systemic abuse. Weekend at Bernie's couldn't be a more apt metaphor for 2021: greedy people ignoring the dead bodies around them for their own selfish short term gain and survival in a money driven world, dressed in 1980's fashion.
